It is important for us to take good care of our skin. Skincare is both an art as well as a science that requires us to be navigated with great detail and thoughtfulness. The essential aspect of skincare is not figuring out a 10-step routine or using imported ingredients but choosing the right products that are effective for you. Unfortunately, there does not have any magic products that fit all skin types and work well in one step. Thus, we need to know our skin type best to meet what our skin needs.
Why Is It Essential for Us to Know Our Skin Types?
Most people no matter women or men do not know how to choose the right skincare products for themselves. They usually buy some expensive products because they consider that the more expensive the product is, the more effective for their skin. Big mistake! These skin care products that do not suitable for your skin type will lead to unwanted irritations, such as breaking out pimples, becoming dry, and being oily.
Test for Skin Types
Before the test, we should know that each individual’s skin type is not only determined by their genes but also is influenced by other external factors, such as cleaning habits, the weather, air pollutants, and so on. Our skin types are not set in stone and they also change as time goes by.
Mainly about five skin types:
- Normal Skin
- Oily Skin
- Dry Skin
- Sensitive Skin
- Combination Skin
Take The Test:
#Step 1 :
Choose gentle cleanser to wash your face in the morning, making sure it is infused with a mild formulation that will not too harsh on your skin.
#Step 2 :
Next, use a soft napkin to pat your face dry and leave your face bare.
#Step 3 :
Do not use any products on your skin and wait for an hour.
#Step 4 :
Take a clean tissue and spread it evenly over your face to dab your skin gently.
#Step 5 :
Check the tissue paper and check out the quality of your skin from the following results.
Checking your results :
1. Normal Skin – Your bare skin feels neither dry nor oily and the tissue paper is clear.
2. Oily Skin – Your bare skin feels greasy and a little bit shiny. The tissue paper will get stained with oil.
3. Dry Skin – Your bare skin feels dry and tight. Maybe a little bit itchy. Some flakes on your tissue paper.
4. Combination Skin – Your T-zone feels oily, your nose will be shiny, and your cheek may feel normal or dry. A T-shape will appear on the tissue paper, imitating your T-zone.
4. Sensitive Skin – This test can not test sensitive skin. The easy way to test your sensitive skin is to see your skin’s reaction after using the regular cleanser half an hour later. If you suddenly break out or your skin turns red, you properly have sensitive skin.
